Therapy Dogs

In the past two days, Sam has had a chance to meet four therapy dogs:

• Linus, an Australian Shepherd
• Sasha, a Malmut
• Dixie, a Black Lab
• Otis, a Mastiff

Sam has put each of their photo cards into his journal he's keeping with his own "dog", Spottie. Thank you to Miss Cathy and Miss Ann from Moreland Elementary for Sam's journal with Spottie and backpack. Sam also loves taking out the card with his classmate's pictures and saying their names. Here's what Sam wrote (he told me what to write) about Linus, "I petted him on the white hair. He sniffed me and sniffed me. He gave me a card."

Here's what he wrote about Sasha (and more!), "Today I was petting Sasha and lighting up a snow globe snowman from Auntie Janette. He's red, green, blue, yellow, purple and sparkly. This was my first full day of therapies. I have on my Incredibles pajamas."

There is even a dog show here once a month! Of course, Sam is increasing his requests for us to get a dog at our house! So, after Sam comes home from Gillette, we are hoping to put in an application to adopt a retired service dog from Service Dogs of MN.
