Sam progressed from apple juice to chocolate ice cream to cheese pizza and vanilla pudding - no whip cream, he said. The nurse said they had to take things slowly to see how his tummy would tolerate things, and Sam did very well. I was surprised at his appetite at 9:30 p.m., and at his cheerful attitude!
Amazingly, he says he is now pain-free, except when they have to move him on to his side. I am thrilled the epidural is working so well!
Sam is now sleeping, hopefully for the evening. I'm in a chair that pulls out into a single bed next to Sam's bed.
There is a lot to be grateful for today!

Such awesomely good news! God is great and God is good! Rob, I hope you can get some rest too on the chair/bed tonight. It was a blessing to be with you all today and to see that precious boy asking in a strong loud voice for a sausage patty for breakfast!
Love you,
Mom
I am so glad to hear Sam is pain free for now!!!!!!
Thanks so much for the great updates. What a relief to know that the surgery went well, Sam's doing well, and he's got an epidural, sausage patties, ice-cream, pudding, and cheese pizza to keep him comfortable! He is such a trooper. And what an awesome big brother he has in Gabe! I'm so happy to know that this hospital experience is going well for all of you. Hugs to everyone - Alison
