Sam had a spot of pain flare up this morning. His hips, right around the incision point were bothering him and he was pretty upset. The nurse said this is probably where the epidural cuts off. She gave him some valium, which helped somewhat, but not entirely, so Sam actually pushed the red button for the nurse 10 minutes later. The nurse came back with morphine and also some Tylenol. He fell asleep not too long after that.
Lori French, our Youth Director from Salem Lutheran, was visiting Sam during this time, so Sam is going to open her gift when he wakes up later today. Sam had been playing his DS for a while before this, and was pretty upset that he wasn't achieving the level he wanted to master on his new Pokemon game. Lori wisely talked to him about how the pain medicine makes your brain work more slowly, so he may not be able to play as well as he's used to doing for a while.
Lunch is coming soon - cheeseburger, fruit punch and strawberries.

Hi, Sam,
Sorry you're not feeling so great today. I have a couple of knock knock jokes for you:
Knock Knock!
Who's there?
Underwear.
Underwear who?
I underwear my mom is?
Knock Knock!
Who's there?
Boo.
Boo who?
You don't need to cry, it's just a joke.
