Sam enjoyed playing his DS with his Uncle Don this evening, then, after more pain medication, he slept through much of a visit from Dad and Gabe, as well as Janette and Don McCalvy.
He woke up in pain again, and received another dose of pain medication. The anesthesiologist checked in, and increased his dosage of Valium, which really helps with the muscle spasms. He also increased the medicine going to the epidural. The doctor said it's really important to manage the pain and not let the muscle spasms start cycling, which would cause a lot more pain. I'm so glad we don't live in the "tough it out" era of pain management.
Sam is sleeping quietly now, after a quick dinner of strawberries, which is what he had for lunch, too. Hopefully a breakfast of pancakes and bacon will perk up his appetite a bit.
