Happy Easter!

Easter has arrived at the Miller-Gore household, but the kids are still sleeping! Sam had a rough night last night, due to his refusal to take his bubble-gum flavored pain medicine. Rob got him to take one dose, after much bribing, yesterday afternoon, but overnight was rough. Sam did take some chewable Tylenol and a sip of diazepam mixed with chocolate soy milk at about 5:30 a.m., which has allowed him to sleep the last three hours.

Rob is on his way to the pharmacy now to exchange the bubble-gum flavored medicine for some fruit punch flavored stuff. Thank goodness Rob was able to talk them into doing that. Hopefully the fruit punch can be mixed with juice and whatnot more than the bubble-gum flavored stuff.

We're also hoping Sam's wheelchair will be delivered today. The wheelchair rental company brought a chair that was too small yesterday, so hopefully the one today will be the right size.

Sam is excited to be in the spare room (across the hall from the bathroom) with a big bed, a TV and a Wii system, just for him! It's just missing a DVD player, which I'm sure we'll add later today! It'll be 3 weeks before Sam can put any weight on his feet, and, although he has some small strengthening exercises to do, it's not a lot to keep him occupied, so we're trying to beef up the entertainment and distractions so we can get to help him through the next three weeks.

After three weeks, he'll get his soft casts on (and a new, smaller wheelchair) and start physical therapy 3x/week, gradually increasing weight-bearing activities in small increments.
